Andrew “Does Hair” K.
Short Hair Specialist | Problem Solver & Storyteller
A recent transplant from Southern California, Andrew K. has been perfecting his craft since 2004. With a passion for short hair—especially styles that are long enough to move but not bound solely by gravity—Andrew brings an innovative approach to every cut.
His go-to product is ADH Dry, a staple in his arsenal for creating dynamic, touchable styles.
Andrew finds his dream hair situations in the intersection of problem-solving and storytelling. Each haircut is an opportunity to tackle challenges while crafting a narrative, a process that gives him a rush of excitement and satisfaction.
What Andrew loves most about his work is guiding clients to a new perspective on their hair. He doesn’t just teach styling techniques; he transforms how his clients view their hair’s functionality, helping them adapt their routines to the natural cycles from shampoo to shampoo and haircut to haircut.
Career highlights include attending Barbercut Dublin, contributing to the Kraft Lookbook, and participating in ISSE. Though some of these events are now defunct, they remain pivotal moments in his professional journey.
For Andrew, the phrase “You Are OK.” Everyone’s hair says something about them whether they intend for it or not, and every haircut/hairstyle solves one problem by introducing another (IE, glueing it down with pomade solves a problem of difficulty because it’s easy, but then you have hair you can’t touch, which is a problem to some). I think when someone stops trying to copy what they’ve seen on a screen and starts focusing on trading their hair problems they don’t like for hair problems they don’t mind, they break a cycle of consumerism and their hair also starts saying something authentic about them. Innovators and trendsetters are the ones we see on a screen who are marketed as being OK, so we’re told we need to buy what they have or use, but what’s more important to understand is that innovators tend to focus on their own unique solutions instead of copying what’s on a screen. We can do this, too, we don’t need to be sold anything to do it and we don’t need to be influencers to think this way. This mindset is what I strive to guide my clients toward.
